Jim Dockey’s vision for VORTEQ is inspiring. The multifaceted CEO built a world-class team, strategically strengthening the company’s footprint and capabilities, naturally leading to their management-led company buyout in 2021. He’s expanded the company’s network of locations (now internationally), enabling opportunities for continued growth and market expansion. Jim’s deep experience in the industry started with science. This Pennsylvania native has a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and brings a very strong technical background of metals and coatings. For almost 30 years, Jim has had a successful career in a variety of areas, including multiple executive roles, plant operations, technical sales, marketing, and product development. His innovative spirit and strategic sensibilities firmly establish him as a notable industry leader.

David Scott brings over 30 years of metals industry experience in corporate finance and accounting leadership. Having worked globally in both publicly traded and private equity industrial businesses, his range of skills span strategic planning, budgeting, accounting, treasury management, risk management and procurement. Hailing from Oakmont PA, David’s understanding of revenue and cost drivers offer tremendous value to VORTEQ’s continued growth. David earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Duquesne University and is a CPA.

Jim Boyle brings close to 40 years of experience in the coil coating and metals industries. At an executive-level he’s lent his hand to facility start-ups, both overseeing the growth directly, as well as consulting. His work has spanned twenty-eight coil coating facilities, across fifteen states and seven countries. Jim’s core skills include developing and managing mergers and acquisitions, a critical area of VORTEQ’s growth plans. The St. Louis native brings significant positive impacts to Production, Quality, and Labor Management.

Jeff Dockey has almost 20 years of experience working in the coatings and metals industries. He has worked for various coatings companies, an aluminum rolling mill, and a full-line metals service center. Jeff’s deep industry knowledge and ability to build long-standing relationships create the personalized touch that is fundamental to VORTEQ’s intimate service model. Jeff is a Pennsylvania native and earned a B.A. in Business Communications from The University of Pittsburgh.

Sunny Flynn brings an undeniably contagious enthusiasm for the business in her role as Director of Marketing. For over seven years, Sunny is at the forefront of the company’s brand development and media communications. Market analytics and pricing strategy also fall under her leadership. An Ohio native, Sunny joined VORTEQ in 2015 bringing over 15 years of coil coating experience spanning operations, customer service, sales administration and strategic planning. Sunny is a graduate of Muskingum University with a B.S. in Psychology.

Derek Deakins started his coil coating career as a college intern almost 15 years ago. He has gained invaluable hands-on experience in almost all facets of the business, including operations, IT, sales & service, and general business administration. VORTEQ’s Customer Service Team, which is located “on the ground” at each of the eight coil coating locations, reports directly to Derek. He also oversees production scheduling, inventory control, and order entry. A Pittsburgh native, Derek holds a B.S. in Marketing from George Mason University. In his downtime, he serves as a volunteer fireman and Lieutenant at a local, Pittsburgh area fire department.

Bonnie Wymard joined VORTEQ in 2017 working in multiple capacities during her tenure, and has been an integral part of the company’s pricing process for the last three years. Bonnie's cross-functional roles within the company have led to her deep understanding of the business, the market, and the needs of our customers. Bonnie excels with attention to detail, the process orientation of a manufacturing environment, and client relationship effectiveness. Bonnie is a graduate of The University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Genetic Counseling.
